Weekend MotorTrip 🛵 - Last Stop - Former Syrian Intelligence Building *Quneitra*
This was our last stop for that Weekend MotorTrip before we split each one to his home.
Got some really nice landscape shots of Mount Hermon's snowy peak from the rooftop of this old Syrian intelligence building 😁
This was the headquarters of the Syrian forces in the Golan Heights.
The building was built between the years 1958-1960 by the Russians and served as the main Syrian headquarters in the front against Israel.
Eli Cohen, the famous Israeli spy, visited the building on 19/10/1962, and possibly on additional dates to sign a permit allowing him to travel south to El-Hama.
There are three stations in the building that are reminiscent of Eli Cohen.
A lock sculpture, a sign on the entrance stairs to the building that reminds the visitors that Eli was here and in the intelligence wing, the second floor at the end of the corridor (in the northeast room of the building) a sign commemorating that here was the intelligence wing and here signed Eli Cohen on the document.
The checkpoint and the building are now abandoned and parts of the structure seem to be falling, so it seems dangerous to enter, although we were careful and heavily protected by our riding gear - jacket, kneecaps, and gloves 😎
Enjoy!
