Let's Choose A Healthy Life
The difference from living near the coast is actually relatively small. Only about one percent more people live within a radius of about one kilometer from the coast that has good health reports than people living 48 kilometers from the ocean. According to Ben Wheeler's study of the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry in Exeter, England.
"But such small effects, when applied to the entire population, can have a major impact on public health," said study author Ben Wheeler of the Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry in Exeter, UK.
Staying near the beach may be linked to better health conditions because seafront environments can reduce stress, say scientists. They point to another study that found that British people who travel to the coast experience greater relaxation and tranquility than those who visit city or state parks.
Even so, it is still too early to encourage people to come to the beach to improve health. Wheeler said the study found only associations, not causal relationships and other factors likely to have a major impact on those outcomes.
For example, it could be that the person is prospering so obviously much healthier and can choose the desired residence, such as the beach. "This phenomenon is known as a migrant effect," says Wheeler.
However, the study found that the relationship between seafront life and better health was strongest among those living in the poorest areas. This shows that prosperity does not explain its findings.
Because this study focuses only on the British population, an island nation whose entire population lives within a radius of 115 kilometers from the coast, it is unclear whether these findings also apply to other populations., Source: http://tekno.tempo.co./com | Foto By : Nurul Fahmi
