BLOG: Island Hopping at Cuatro Islas

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Hi fellow Steemians! I just want to share the experience we have in our trip to one of the beautiful Islands in Leyte, Philippines.

A day before an earthquake hit our place in Ormoc City last July 2017, our medical team decided to have a break from work. We chose Cuatro Islas as our destination. It is located in the Southern part of the province in Leyte, Philippines.

Cuatro islas is a group of islands in the municipalities of Inopacan and Hindang - Digyo, Mahaba, Apid and Himokilan. The crystalline blue water and beautiful white sand bar are remarkable among the four that catches the local and foreign tourist to visit. If you want to do island hopping, it is just about 30 to 60 minutes ride thru a pump boat from Inopacan.

We arrived at around 10 am in Inopacan, after a 90 minutes travel from Ormoc City. We parked our cars in the coast, near the Municipal Hall. It is where the docking area of the pump boat that will take us to the islands. I can feel the excitement of the group, since most of us came from the northern part of the province. After a quick check of the things we need to bring, we rented a boat. Then, we boarded the boat with a big grin on our face. After the complete inspection of the boatmen and putting our life vest, we departed.

The sun was as bright as the clear-blue sky, which reflects to the clear blue sea. We first visited the Digyo Island, the smallest among the four islands. We rented a Nipa Hut, where we set up our lunch. Everybody was hungry that we forgot that it was already 12 noon. After having a few selfies, FOOD STRIKE.

We stayed on the island for about 3 hours. We did not notice the time since everyone were having a great time. We explore the beach front, with its fine white sand and beautiful rock formation. We can't avoid feeling amazed by the clear and cold water that touches our feet. It was really fun, with a cold beer and chill friends with you.

Our next stop was Mahaba, the second largest of the four islands. Like the Digyo Island, it has also a beautiful and wide beach front. The sand is fine and white, while you can actually see the bottom of the sea floor because the water is clear. We stayed for an hour, where we enjoyed swimming, drinking cold beer and taking selfies. We were not able to explore the whole island.

On our way back to the mainland, we just visited the two remaining islands, the Himokilan and Apid. We just stayed in our boat and had a quick view around the islands.

It was nearly 5 pm in the afternoon when we arrived at Inopacan. We just rested for 15 minutes, then we travel back to Ormoc City.

It was truly a relaxing day for all of us before heading back to work in the hospital the next day.

No matter how busy our life can get from our daily activities, we should always find time to chill and relax. This is our treat to ourselves by all our hard works.
