The Magical Trip: SAGADA Mt. Province

I thought, it'd be great if I'd share our Sagada trip we had last February this year. For those who didn't know about Sagada, it is a small town in Cordillera Mountains, within the Mt. Province of the Philippines. It's known for it's "picture-perfect" landscapes (caves, falls) , century-old coffins that were hanged and stacked on big cave and most especially it's well-preserved Filipino culture that has been in existence before the Spaniards even came.

We went there without realizing that it was the coldest season of the year.. Yes! You heard it right, Sagada's coldest season is when by the time we went there. Good thing, we managed to bought some gears (gloves, bonnet, socks, sarong) when we were in Baguio.

We stayed in Misty Lodge & Cafe and it's just a few meters walk from the center of Sagada. If you guys are planning to visit Sagada, you might want to check out this place. Personally, I would highly recommend this place not because they have cheaper rates but simply because they provide an excellent customer service. They also have a wide-variety of food listings so you won't have to be worried if you'll be famished. Plus, they also have a fire place installed.

One of tourist spots we visited in Sagada is the St. Mary Episcopal Church. This church is said to be the oldest church in Cordillera and was built under the direction of Rev. J. Staunton in 1904 & it became a parish in 1962.

This probably was the highlight of the trip, to finally witness (from my very own eyes) the famous The Hanging Coffins of Sagada. According to our guide which happens to be one of the Igorot tribe, it has been their tradition to hang the remains of their loved-ones every after few years because they wanted to be closer with their ancestral spirits. The higher their coffins were being placed, the closer they get to their ancestral spirits.

It was actually a little bit tiring for a 30 minute trekking going down, so I think I deserved a MOANA-inspired-pose HAHAHA

Sagada also has it's own Rice Terraces: Bontoc, Rice Terraces

After that very tiring trek, I think I deserved a treat. We've tried the famous Sagada Brew and honestly, their coffee was really good. They also have wide variety of desserts but I only tried their brownie.
