Colombia asks Venezuela to extradite alleged rapist of 276 children

Colombian authorities announced on Monday that they will ask the Maduro government for the extradition of Juan Carlos Sánchez Latorre, accused of raping at least 276 children and selling photos as well as pornographic videos of minors on the internet, which is why he was captured in Venezuela in December last year.

Carlos Sánchez Latorre, 37, was captured in Maracaibo by agents of the Scientific, Criminal and Forensic Investigation Unit (CICPC) on December 1, and remains in a Caracas jail awaiting extradition.

The man is accused of having shared 1,450 photographs of child pornography and of selling on the internet videos in which he himself appears to be raping children, because of this the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) was looking for him.

Alias ​​"Lobo Feroz" had already been captured in his native Barranquilla in 2005 and 2008 for the crimes of abusive carnal access and sexual intercourse with a minor under 14 but in both cases he was released due to the expiration of the judicial terms.

According to the Venezuelan authorities, the prisoner had a new arrest warrant from January 30, 2017 issued by the Twenty-First Municipal Criminal Court with Functions of Control of Guarantees of Bogotá.

La Dijin reported that the investigation about alias "Lobo Feroz" began in 2005, when it reported 50 rapes of children that it apparently searched in gambling halls and subsequently drove to hotels or to their own residence through deception.

The data compiled by the experts allowed to know that the individual recorded the sexual aggressions to later commercialize the videos for a value that oscillated between the 100 and 400 dollars.

As part of the evidence that the Colombian authorities will present to judicialize him once he is extradited, evidence is expected to be provided by Venezuela, the country he fled to from Colombia, and Mexico, where documents were found that compromise him.
