Thank you very much! Those aren't spiders in the background those are Japanese Maple leaves that have fallen into the web. Most (perhaps all) spiders are venomous, but few are lethal; this one is certainly not lethal though it is quite large. I haven't eaten any spiders and not this species so I am not sure if it is poisonous or not. However, birds eat them all the time so, they'd probably be safe to eat, not sure why anyone would do that though!
