Taking a Macro With an 18 -55mm Kit Lens (No Filter or Raynox)
Taking pictures of macros is easy and cheap. Any lenses we can use to take a macro. This time I photographed the macro using an 18-55mm kit lens. There are additional tools that we must provide if you want to take a macro with kit lens. For example by adding a close up and raynox filters. But, I do not use those two additional tools, I just use the 18-55mm kit lens without any additions. Instructions for Use: Focal Length and Focus Lens Set Focal Length at the longest focal date, ie at 55mm. Then set the focusing lens at the closest distance. Never change focal settings and focal distances, just get results with maximum zoom.
Manual Mode Settings (recommended). Set the diaphragm at the opening from f 5.6 to f 11, depending on the size of the object. if it gets bigger, use the big f number, get the sharpness evenly. Set Shutter Speed (minimum) 1 / 50sec. The sooner the better, because to reduce the risk of photos "shake" or shake. Set ISO according to existing light conditions. If less light can add flash. Both internal and external Flash. Set Metering on Spot Metering.
Image Capturing Technique
After setting the settings on the lens and camera, now start execution. Assume you're shooting using a fixed lens, so you can not change the Focal Length on the lens. Similarly to focus the lens, do not change - change. To be able to sharpness on the object you can do by way forward or backward. Once the object is felt to look sharp in the view finder, you can immediately take a picture by squeezing the shutter on your camera.
Note ;
This Kit lens is suitable for objects such as butterflies, moths, mantis, and other objects of the same size. To capture very small animals such as ants, usually can not get the maximum magnification.
Here are the macro photos from the Kit Lens and Settings as above.
FL 55mm | f 5.6 | ISO 400 | Speed 1 / 50sec | External Flash
