on September 2nd 2017 teenagers threw a firework into the woods on the Eagle Creek Trail starting a blaze that consumed the Gorge and went on for 3 months. These photos are from before "The Great Fire". Please head all trail closures.

This trip was before the fire

It was a rainy day and my 3 friends and I had no plans for what to do. We knew we wanted to go on a adventure but we were not sure where to go. We got out our map and started looking for locations. We found this little spot on the map that said Wahclella Falls. I'm not sure why we picked this spot but I am glad we did. None of us had ever heard of it.

We loaded up the car and hit the road. The parking lot was empty when we got there, and we soon realized it was because the trail had a wash out with the rain and there was "Warning signs" around the parking lot and trailhead. But at this point we were set on seeing this waterfall and we would do what we had to to see it.
We parked up the road and hit the trail. It started raining as soon as we made it to the trail and continued the whole time.
We made it to the wash out and realized we just had walk up a hill around the area effected, it took no time at all. but we were all covered in mud by the end.
We were not going to let the weather stop us.
When I think of my favorite adventures, it always seems to be the ones where our plans go wrong and we have to find ways around what may stop us. The rain and landslides only make a better story.

The beauty of the gorge is inexpressible, all the colors and landscape... No camera can do it justice
I love the way the rain brings out the green in the landscape.

A great adventure doesn't have to be expensive, it sometimes just takes gas in a car and good friends to tag along and a location. This trail should open up again in summer of 2018. I wait in anticipation.
