The Lens

If you are not familiar with Holga Cameras. They made a medium format all plastic camera that was favored by photographers due to the vignetting low quality and light leaks that the camera allowed to alter the film. I was intrigued with this low-fi technology, however I didn't want to waste darkroom time film and chemicals to just try something out.

Low and behold I found that B&H sells a Canon compatible Holga "quality" lens. I picked one up for $20 and gave it a go, thinking if it sucks I could always dump it on craigslist.

The thing to notice the amount of trial and error composing a usable shot with this lens. It is almost impossible to see through using the viewfinder due to the plastic pinhole nature. The best option is to take a couple test shots and adjusting settings until you get the desired effect and color balance.

The following pictures of the Rotunda of Jessie Hall on the MU campus were taken with out correction to show the process of trial and error.

Conculsion

It is a fun little lens for novelty shots with out going through a bunch of filters in Photoshop or Lightroom, my personal preference was the 1/100 on this day to give it deeper colors and more vignette. All in i have wasted $20 on worse things so I will call it a sucess.
