Joy Bubble: Flowers in the Dark
Who knew how amazing the sunflower in my garden would look if I photographed it at night! I was on a spider hunt (post to follow) but got quite distracted by the striking beauty of this flower. The colours just shine.
I was intrigued by the many earwigs on the flowers that I have never noticed during the day. A quick internet search has confirmed that they do indeed eat pollen!

Thanks for looking! I hope you have enjoyed seeing these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. All taken with my Panasonic Lumix FZ45.......and a torch!

Wonderful shots. I did not realise earwigs ate pollen. Interesting!
Thank you. It is interesting isn't it. I don't think I'd ever really considered what they did eat before (other than knowing it had nothing to do with ears....) but seems it's quite a range.

Thanks @angela.ghkh
Those are AWESOME shots! I managed a fairly decent shot of a Katydid at night (also using a torch/flashlight), so I know taking pictures in the dark isn't nearly as easy as you make it look. Upvoted and resteemed. :)
Thank you and glad you liked them. The flowers were a lot easier than the spiders that I went out to photograph :)
LOL! Having taken pictures of both, I can well imagine! :)
great pictures my friend :)
the night is always nice for some beautiful pictures and discoveries ;)
Thank you! It is indeed and I love the contrast you get at night. Just for you (because I know you like bugs and it'll take me ages to identify all the spiders and post the pictures) - here is my favourite spider from my night adventures!

oh wow thank you. This is an awesome looking spider species ;)
Any ideas which species it could be?
No......an orb weaver but it doesn't quite fit any of the descriptions I've got (I haven't got a decent guide). I've got a few pics that I'm going to post on the Faebook UK spiders identification page later. Someone there will know!
ah ok, yeah it is not really possible to have a decent guide for each organism group^^
yeah there is for sure someone who knows it ;)
It's a marbled orb weaver. Happy days!
ah ok, very nice :)
thanks for telling me ;)
thanks, wish you a wonderful weekend as well ;)
