Happy Snappy Ecologist: Hoverflies
When I joined steemit I didn't intend to share lots of photos - but it's the perfect place for it! I'm an ecologist and love studying nature. I photograph it in an attempt to capture how amazing it is and often to help me identify species later. I'm going to try and start sharing some of my happy, snappy ecologist moments and hope you enjoy them. Here are some hoverflies to start us off - can you ever take enough photos of hoverflies? No! They're stunning!
This first one was very tolerant as I was pretty much touching it with the lens!
This one I found a little off course on the beach.
Moving to older photos of my wildflower meadow during the excitement of its first year.
Photo information: All hand held - feeling for that magic moment between the breeze and the subtle shake of my hands! First two pictures with Panasonic Lumix FZ45 with clip on Raynox 150 macro lens. Second two with my compact Cannon Ixus 860 on macro.
Species information: I learn as I go along and don't have a specialist hoverfly id book so there's room for error. If you disagree with a species id I'd love to know as that's how we learn.
