Allow me to take you on a virtual trip through the historic town of Portsmouth, NH USA.  A place that is full of history, community and the arts. These pictures were taken today, Saturday August 20th, 2016 as my fiancé, @derekareith, and I took an afternoon stroll through this beloved town.  New Hampshire is our home, born and raised.  Allow us to take you on a journey and discover the sights of this quaint New England community.

The arts are a huge cultural piece of this port side town.  We just happen to have a few whales here too :)

Portsmouth City Music Hall

This historic and cultural center beats at the heart of Portsmouth, NH.  This landmark, built in 1878, showcases talent from all over including musicians, theater performances, authors and more.  Community outreach is at the heart of this non profit run organization and welcomes thousands of patrons through their doors year after year.

It is common place to find musicians serenading you on the corner of the local favorite coffee shop.

Strawberry Banke Museum

This outdoor historic museum has 32 buildings and 10 acres that preserve a way of life dating as far back as the 1600's.  The city of Portsmouth is rich in early American history and Strawberry Banke is a great example of some of the earliest settlements of New England.  

I grew up reenacting the Revolutionary Era and have memories of being in costume participating in exhibits at Strawberry Banke.  That story, however, will be for another post :)

Prescott Park

Prescott Park sits beside the Piscataqua River that separates New Hampshire and Maine's seacoast. It is adorned with beautiful flower gardens and also is the resting place for the cities outdoor community preforming arts festival.  In the summer months you will find free yoga in the park, big name performances in the evenings as well as theater events and night time movies that are great for the entire family.

Thanks for taking the time to explore Portsmouth, New Hampshire, USA. There is so many more hidden gems in Portsmouth, from fantastic culinary experiences, to hip bars, and grass root establishments that are not represented here.  After growing up in this region, one may take for granted the charm, character, and community that is offered here.  I am excited to take you on the journey and show you all the wonders of New England, a place where we call home.
