in #photography7 years ago

Hello friends! For those who are interested, I will tell you about the city where I live! Maybe you will be interested to know about this!

Today I will tell you about the wonderful city of Dnepropetrovsk in which I live, its history, sights.

Who else does not know where I live, I will reveal to you this mystery - this is a wonderful city-hero Dnepropetrovsk.

A little bit from the history of Dnepropetrovsk.

Initially, our city was called Ekaterinoslav (1776-1797), then Novorossiysk (1797-1802), then again Ekaterinoslav (1802-1926) and then received the name that is still worn-Dnepropetrovsk. The modern name of the city consists of the name of the river, on which stands our city and the names of the Russian revolutionary and party figure Grigory Ivanovich Petrovsky.

In the city a lot is associated with this name, in honor of Petrovsky named square, plant, street, avenue and so on. Honestly, very few people know the biography of Gregory Ivanovich, I read it and found nothing special, was born in a poor family, exile, emigration, arrests, then a career in the party before the deputy chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR in 1938.
The city of Yekaterinoslav was founded in 1777 by Potemkin, and the official date is 1787, when Catherine II laid the first stone in the construction of the Transfiguration Cathedral.

Gradually the city developed and turned into a large scientific and industrial center, was under the rule of the Makhnovists (1919), then the White Army, in 1941-1943 was occupied by German troops, but October 25, 1943 was successfully released. Gradually after WWII, the city was rebuilt and turned into the largest center in Ukraine, the 4th largest in Kiev, Kharkov and Odessa. As of May 1, 2014, 993,000 people live in Dnepropetrovsk, quite a lot, you will agree, although looking at what city to compare))

Attractions of Dnipropetrovsk

  •  Our most important city attraction is the famous Dnieper River - the longest in Ukraine and the 4th along the length and the area of the basin in Europe. The city is located on the two banks of the Dnieper and occupies a vast territory.

By the way, the embankment in Dnepropetrovsk is the longest in Europe, on the right bank it stretches for 23 km, like this!

  • On this place I want to put a favorite vacation spot - Monastery Island

The first mention of him appeared in 1880 in the work of Bishop Theodosius. In Soviet times, this island was called "Komsomol", but after the fall of the communist regime the island decided to return its former name, I think it's right and sounds better.

My photos on the roof of the house) I like to sit on the roof admiring the views.he views.
