THE HOUSE SPARROW
The house sparrow is unfortunately another one of our garden birds which seems to be in decline although I’m still lucky enough to have them visit my garden and breed in my loft and over the past several months I’ve managed to get a handful of pictures
The first few pictures are off the male bird
And now for the female which you will probably notice is slightly less colourful but still a lovely looking bird
She seemed very happy sitting on my old watering can
In this picture she is feeding her young
Baby house sparrow
Male , hopefully with the increased amount of people now feeding garden birds there numbers can improve.hope you enjoy the pictures thanks mike
Great pic's mike, there is no shortage of sparrows in Australia, they are everywhere, cheers mate.
You’ll only miss them when they are gone, thanks for stopping by. Cheers mike
One of the big problems sparrows have today, is that the houses are too slick. Sparrows dont like making nests in trees or bushes, they prefere cave like gaps in walls or rocks above a certain hight. Such places are getting rare in modern cities.
Food is not such a big problem, since sparrows are quiet flexible in their diet. They do need insect when they feed their young, however.
I think you definitely have a good point with some of the more modern houses, thanks for your reply cheers mike
It's incredible that the male bird is more colorful and looks more attractive than the female bird. Nature has so many surprises in store.
His brown back is like a nice gentleman's suit!
Thanks for your reply cheers mike
