Eremophila nivea, commonly known as the Turquoise Emu-bush,is a small shrub species that is native to Australia. It is part of the Scrophulariaceae family and can be found in the arid and semi-arid regions of Western Australia,South Australia, and the Northern Territory. The Turquoise Emu-bush can grow up to 2 meters in height and has silvery-grey leaves that are covered in fine hairs to reduce water loss.It produces small,tubular-shaped flowers that are a pale blue or lilac color and bloom from August to October. The plant has been used for medicinal purposes by Indigenous Australians, who used it to treat a variety of ailments such as coughs, colds, and rheumatism. The leaves and bark of the plant were also used to make a tea that was believed to have a calming effect on the body.Today, the Turquoise Emu-bush is cultivated as an ornamental plant for its attractive foliage and flowers. It is also used in land rehabilitation programs to help stabilize soil in degraded areas.
