Above: While walking along the shore of Larak, Iran – an island in the Persian Gulf – Shadpoor came across this luminous scene. The “magical lights of (the) plankton ... enchanted me so that I snapped the shot”, he writes. (Photo by Pooyan Shadpoor/2016 EPOTY)

Transhumance in Spain by Susana Girón. Transhumance is a centuries old tradition of moving livestock many miles in search of better pasture in winter and summer. Above, the Alarcon family are taking their sheep from their home in Fatima (Granada) to Las Navas de San Juan (Jaen), a 124-mile journey on foot. More than 100 Spanish families continue the transhumance tradition every year. (Photo by Susana Girón/2016 Atkins CIWEM Environmental Photographer of the Year)

The environmental photographer of the year 2016 is awarded to Sara Lindström for her imposing photograph “Wildfire”. She wrote: “It was an exceptionally warm day in July in southern Alberta when I came across this massive pinkish smoke plume rising high towards the sky. The big flames were thriving on the dry land and had me completely mesmerized in fear and awe”. (Photo by Sara Lindström/2016 EPOTY)

That blue moon ( sparkling blue thing in that beach ) the most beauty .

You can definitely tell each one tells a story, and really gives you the setting behind each picture.

Excellent work. The first photo is a great!

wow very good images

oh my god ....... all photos are fantastic ........ thank you for sharing these with us : D

How's that first photo! Amazing. I wonder how many shots they take to get these single, timeless images?

The world is just so gorgeous - when you see stuff like this, the stillness of the moment of beauty, you forget the craziness for a second.

immersive

great photo! very good!

Beautiful photography! Thanks for sharing.
That Taj Mahal picture... really eye-opening. I've read that many impoverished Indians bathe in these rivers. The perception of environmental crises is perverted; that picture is clarity.
