Haunting The Haunted House

It is Christmas Eve tomorrow and according to Finnish custom, Santa will visit every house with children and give gifts only to those children who have been good. Santa lives in Korvatunturi in the Finnish Lapland right next to the Russian border. From his base of operations, he has created a North Korean style espionage network that covers the entire Earth the purpose of which is to spy on every child whose family observes Christmas. Santa promised me a shitload of whale upvotes if I took on the mission to see if the ghost children of this haunted house were up to any last minute mischief. It was an offer I couldn't refuse, so there I went to see if there were any signs of trouble making.

So far so good. The house seemed structurally sound - for the most part.

Some pranksters have hidden some of the plumbing in this storage room. I have no inclination to inspect that more closely. Not looking good.

These cracks do seem not to threaten the integrity of the wall. It's not a great thing for the plaster to have fallen off like that. It doesn't look any worse than when I recently visited it, though.

The ghost family residing in this building is clearly an active family that loves winter sports.

That's the well or what's left if the structures on top of it.

The footings of the house have deteriorated to the point where the rebars are partly exposed to the elements.

Oxidation happens fast when the rebars are exposed to the air and water.

The eaves are looking a bit flimsy.

The paint peeling off is the least of the problems this house has.

It's about -10 C. What the cloud cover does is reflect enough infrared radiation back to keep car windows under the open sky from freezing.

The sun has set about 30 minutes earlier.

The house is in a pretty good shape for a haunted house. I guess I'm going to tell my boss Santa that the ghost kids should get their presents after all.
