Aspects Of The Tallship Zwarte Valk
In this post, I'd like to share more pictures from our recent stay on the tallship Zwarte Valk.
The above picture below shows the belaying cleat and halliards. The halliards are typically operated by several people.
The picture below has been taken sitting on the jib boom. It prominently shows the foresail and the two leeboards on either side of the ship. These leeboards allows the 65 ton ship to operate with a flat bottom and a draft of only 85 cm.
The picture below shows the ropes that attach the mainsail to the mast. The wooden ball bearing ensure that sail can hosted smoothly.

These leeboards are massive, imagine powering up the gigantic Zwarte with how large the bottom seems to be. The halliards is brilliantly captured, so like how many people operates it simaultaneously? The camera shot is beautiful, overall the ship is a beauty.

Undoubtedly I do not doubt that on that trip you really enjoyed it, but you also learned many things about the boat.
I always have problems to identify the bow of the HAHAHA pota but of course it is not my territory.

For how long are you sailing with this ship and on what sea/s?
The pics look great and I supose it's just smartphone pics. Have a great time there!
The pictures have been taken with a Leica M-10. I was on the ship for 12 days but was pretty offline during that time. So I am posting only now ;-) Those ships are primarily made for the Waddenzee and the IJsselmeer due to their ability to handle now tides and sit aground.

It is great to travel on a ship and it is very nice to see the nature of the ship.

Looks adventurous, I'd probably be a little afraid - I only like the sea as long as land is in sight. A good time and come back safe.
