diary of Majdanpek city / mine district

in #photography8 years ago (edited)

Majdanpek (Мајданпек) is a town in Bor District of Serbia.
The town was industrialized in the mid-20th century, by the industrial program supported by SFR Yugoslavia's Government of that time, and the personal influence of Josip Broz Tito.

Whole town is in buildings (apartments that were made for mine workers) there are almost no houses
(I saw just two, and I went through whole town) because of the often earthquakes.
The first three photo are taken in industrial mine and metallurgy zone.

This is the entry for mine workers, срећно means -  good luck

this is a photo of famous toxic waste lake in Majdanpek

There is a small desert outside of town, and I went there with my friends from surf band Moussaka and took a band photo
an hour later they all went arab style :)

In the last photo is portrait of my friend, musician Ivan Skopulovič, who grew up in Majdanpek, and took me to shoot from a shotgun in the woods
