Mushrooms occurring in Europe - Pluteus cervinus
Pluteus cervinus - Hat with a diameter of 40 to 150 mm; a young hemispherical, later spread, flat, sometimes with a flat umbo in the middle. A slightly radially fibrous or fine-grained surface, sometimes naked; silky-smelling; brown - from light beige, yellow-brown to chocolate-brown, tarry-brown; when moist slightly sticky, in the dry period radially fractured. Shore edge.
Lamellae quite broad, thick, convex, rounded at the shaft; the color is white, with age cream-white, pink, salmon-brown, brownish-red.
Stem 50 to 150 mm high, 5 to 20 mm thick; full, at the base thickened; dirty white, covered with brown fibrils forming an oblong and sometimes reticular pattern.
Flesh thin, only in the middle of the fleshy cap; soft, brittle, white color. Taste and smell mild, a little radish.
Occurrence: In deciduous and mixed forests, on stumps, wood, sawdust of deciduous trees, very rarely coniferous. It grows singly or several pieces; from May to November.
Value: edible fungus.
