The Venetian Lighthouse in Chania Crete Greece

in #photography7 years ago

I consider myself very lucky to have had the the opportunity to photograph the lighthouse multiple times throughout my life. It is a beautiful site watching the harbor alive with people eating, shopping, and enjoying their evening among the strip. The harbor is filled with people, both locals and tourists enjoying the views, and/or an evening out and about.

The old Venetian lighthouse was built at the end of the 16th century from sea-tossed stone and guards the old port of Chania Crete.

The lighthouse was constructed by the Venetians and reconstructed by the Egyptians between 1830-40. It's light reaches a distance of 7 miles and is not only a beautiful landmark for boats, but one of the most photographed spots for tourists in the area.
