The good soldier Svejk and Pisek city

in #photography7 years ago

"Svejk walked to the East, repeating to myself: "this can't be, so I didn't get to Budejovice!"... "Forward!" - ordered myself the good soldier švejk. - ... I have to get to Budejovice". But by unhappy coincidence, instead of to go... Budejovice, Svejk foot headed North to Pisek...".

We also like Schweik, came in a traffic accident Pisek: our friend decided on the way home to drop by for a beer. In fact, as he explained to us, the word "pussy" means "sand" (in the middle ages here in the sand "washed gold". Isn't that why Svejk out here? :)

There is no sand or gold we found, but had the pleasure to see a small cheerful town,

The official history of Písek brings us back to the reign of king Vaclav the 1st in the 13th century A. D. Since that time remains of the Royal castle:

(and see photos above)

The more interesting of the Pussy: first, it is the first Czech town, which was night street lighting. It was established in 1887, the engineer FR. Krizic:

And secondly, the city is the oldest in the Czech Republic and 2nd in Europe bridge. Who does not know the Charles bridge in Prague?!!! So, the bridge in písek is quite able to compete with it, although not so well known. It was built in 1265 and has a length of 111 meters.

What do you think, why are these strange wooden structures near the bridge? We were told that when the movement of the ice on the river, they protect the bridge from damage: ice RAID them and break. Who would have thought!!!!!

Walking through it, we looked at the sculpture, located on both sides of the bridge.

We are particularly interested in one: the priest John of Nepomuk. Russian tourists called him Yasha :) King Wenceslas the 4th ordered to throw it in the bag into the river Vltava because he refused to tell the king what the Queen had told him in confession (for one version).

The plague that raged in Europe, was not spared and this city. What a testimony plague column

Finally, look at this amazing ancient city.

In the city we walked around a little, but the beer to buy and failed. Until we open-mouthed, staring at the local sights, all the shops were closed. I had to go to another place :)

Great mood!!! And up to new meetings!
