🌙 Moon Photography - A Cold December Night in New England, USA
I peered out the window tonight...
I saw this beautiful December Moon looking back at me!
It was a cold night here in northern New England, USA... there was a bit of snow in the air...
I gazed up into the sky with a smile on my face. The moon is truly an amazing sight.
Watching the stars is something I wish I did more often. There is something special about peering up into the night sky and wondering what is really out there...
I watched the moon rise for a while, and snapped a few photos...
These are the first photos I have tried taking of the moon with my new camera, a Nikon D3400. I hope to get a bit better at taking them. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for taking moon photos? I was using a 70-300mm lens for these shots. There was a bit of cloud cover, so I apologize if they aren't the clearest photos. I thought they came out pretty nice though! I am still learning how to use my camera, and trying to become a better photographer.

Yeah, I know what you mean! I had something like that happen recently when I was trying to go get a view of the meteor shower and it was clouds everywhere.

You did really well, moon shots are tricky especially if taking them in a lit up area,
that is one time where manual setting really helps, of course most say use a tripod, but I often havent LOL, and I use somewhere between f8 and F 11 a low iso of 100 and with a shutter speed of about 1/200 0r 250 to start with and then see what the shot is like and adjust accordingly
I am getting over a chest infection so I was sensible and didnt go out looking for it

I feel like my friend had this lens. I also think he had something that doubled the zoom capability before the lens. It made getting moon shots pretty easy, but assuming you're not looking to spend this kind of money. If you want more information I can ask him.
All I can say is you did WAY better than I did with my cellphone camera XD
