in Portland, Maine USA!
This is part 1 of a travel / photography series I will be sharing with you
from my recent trip to the ocean!
Hello friends!
I had the pleasure of spending a weekend away traveling in the Portland, Maine (USA) area this weekend, which is right on the Maine ocean with the Atlantic. The area is really beautiful this time of year! Many people were out sightseeing, and enjoying the sunny weather.
I took a ferry ride which featured tours of the local lighthouses that scatter the rocky shorelines here in Maine. This is part one of this photo journey to see some of that amazing ocean scenery!
Up first is the Portland Head Light Lighthouse
The guide told us this was the very first lighthouse built by the United States.
It really is an amazing sight to see, especially from the ocean!
Many tourists visit the area. I will be sharing some of our photos from our visit to the park which is nearby to the lighthouse.
The ferry ride was fun, and lasted for about an hour. A great chance to be outside, and taking photos!
These amazing structures were a lot of fun to photograph... so many interesting features.
There were many other sailboats, ferry's, and lobster boats out on the water as well...

The ferry ride was awesome! I highly recommend it if you are ever in the area. I plan to share a few more of the scenes from the trip in future blog posts, to please check back often for more original photography blogs!

I would love to visit there! Do they still use it to warn ships any longer?
yes it still lights up, apparently it is all automated now, so they do not need actual light house keepers anymore is what the tour guide told us. Wonderful experience, I recommend it! Thanks for checking out the photos @violetmed!
