Strelitzia

Passing by one house, I saw Strelitzia.
Naturally I could not leave without taking photos of this flower.
I guess I looked strange from the outside.
So as to take photos, I had to hang over the fence in various poses.
And that's what I did.

Strelitzia from the Strelitzia family, which consists of four species.
The homeland of Strelitzia is South Africa and Madagascar. The flower was named in honor of Charlotte Sofia Mecklenburg-Strelitz Queen of Great Britain.

Strelitzia is an evergreen perennial.
The largest reaches a height of more than ten meters, and the other from two to three and a half meters.

Strelitzia blooms at the age of four or five.

Beautiful! We call it the Bird of Paradise flower. A long time ago, I remember someone getting her picture in the newspaper because her Bird of Paradise had flowered indoors and this was such a rare flower here. Imagine my surprise on my first visit to Costa Rica to see them growing in municipal flower beds!

Thank!
We also called Strelitzia a bird of paradise.

Looking good!

Thank you very much!

Beautiful colors! Deep purple and strong blue! Contrast with bright orange!
