The Baroque mansion Dornava with the park stands in Slovenia, in Ptujsko polje, between the settlement Dornava and the Pesnica river.

Today's building after a fire in 1695, before 1708, appointed a new Italian architect at the order of Count Franz Anton Sauer.

On the orders of Count Joseph Tadej Attems in the years 1753-1755, the Styrian master Jožef Hueber transformed the facade of the castle, and he was inspired by the Viennese architect Hildebrandt. The ground floor is rustically decorated, and the upper floors are divided into thirteen fields with pilasters. The central axis of the facade is highlighted with a three-part portal with a balcony and a triangular finish. Hueber also added lower, one-storeyed courtyards with towers, and arranged and enlarged the park.

Inside, the illusionist painting of the main hall (1708, supposedly the hall was painted by the Styrian painter Johann Caspar Waginger). The ceiling depicts a scene where the Herkula is accepted in Olimpo, Athens and Venus. It is complemented by allegories of four continents, four seasons and four Herculean Heroes actions.

Since 1597, he owned the Herberstein family property, since 1666, the Sauer family, since 1737, the Attems family, and since about 1880, the Auersperg family.

After World War II, he was a home for the mentally handicapped children and youth until 2002.
