Unknown Tuscany - Luigi Broglio Grandi's House - Original Colorful Photo Series - Italy 2017
Sometimes you pass in front a old house e can't imagine how much history is behind it.
I never liked history at school, and nowadays I see how much is important to know that there were great persons in the past.
I believe that most local persons didn't know about this house, and who lived there, because I asked to some persons that were in a local bar of who was the owned and one knew.
The house belonged to the priest and mathematics of the 17th century called Luigi Broglio Grandi. He studieds many things along his life: math, philosophy, astronomy, optical and hydraulic, but the most recognized of his studies was the "rose curve or rhodonea".
In 1687 Grandi came in to Camaldolese monastery di Sant'Apollinare - Ferrara. After a humanistic formation as a priest, began to study mathematics at Santa Maria degli Angeli - Florence.
In 1694 was nominated reader of philosophy, and in 1700 - with a fantastic reading of philosophy - came in to the Pisa's monastery -San Michele, and Pisa's University in 1714 refusing the proposals of the Rome's Curia.
Grandi started to corrisponder through letters with other prestigiuous scientists from all over Europe, and one of them was Isaac Newton receiving a letter him in May 26, 1706.
About 4,000 letters of his were partially digitized by the Pisa's library.
His literary output, especially the Camaldolese, is so great that it has not yet been fully studied.
Grandi was also interested by music, and I ask me : How these persons without current technologies could to do so many things at the same time? Incredible, isn't it?
