Spend an evening at Darling Harbour and surround yourself with some of the festival’s best light installations. Darling Harbour contains plenty of restaurants, bars and eateries which offer great vantage points for watching Vivid Sydney. Look to the Australian National Maritime Museum’s rooftop to view BBC Earth and Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet II, and be sure to check one of the precinct’s highlights, Tumbalong Lights, which consists of four interactive-play installations for both children and the young at heart.

Night two - Stroll through the Royal Botanic Gardens

The Royal Botanic Gardens is one of the biggest precincts in the Vivid Sydney program, with a number of captivating light installations scattered throughout its grounds. Take a walk through the gardens at night to get the best view of the amazing works on display. Wander through the glimmering Nautilus Forest, and set aside time to see Hyperweb: a giant illuminated web suspended 6 metres (20 feet) in the air. Afterwards, catch the glowing Oasis; a sea of lights that dance on and around water.

Night three - Fun at the Rocks after dark

Head to The Rocks to see beautiful and thought-provoking installations throughout Vivid Sydney. Check out Illuminosaurus; an awe-inspiring 3 metre (10 foot) tall dinosaur captured in a moment of fierce pursuit. Nearby, The Garden of Sweeties invites families and children to learn more about the use of renewable energy in the form of sweets, lollipops and striped candy canes scattered across a green corner of First Fleet Park.
