One of Hollywood's Favorite Bridges - Night Photography

The 4th Street Bridge crosses over the LA River and was built in 1931. One of my favorite bridges and we have all seen it from LA Noire to a recent Beck music video. A mix of architecture: Gothic Revival and Beaux Arts I walked across the bridge with my trusty old tripod and snapped exactly what you see.

Gear and Technical
I have done enough shoot to sort of be able to guess the proper exposure at night within a half-stop. I'm even so arrogant with my settings that I have been shooting in JPG lately...screw the 50 megapixel Canon I have at the moment. The large files are a pain in my ass. Hahahaha.

ISO 100 - it's really important to get this as low as possible if you want to reduce noise.
Shutter 20 seconds
Aperture f8 (with the exception of the LA River and train tracks which didn't any direct sodium vapor street lamps.
In post I added saturation, blue and clarity.

Let's dive into the shots for the rest of the story

In the distance a plane flys east from LAX and makes a big ass streak in the sky. You see the small sign over the LA River? It's really not a natural river; it's more of a big ass drainage ditch. Below is an image:

On the walk up from the east side of the bridge I see some funky rich hipster lofts and snap off an image. I like the purple light.

This was actually a few blocks from downtown. My first test shot to get in the mood.

Metro cars pull in here for the night and probably maintenance
