Kickin' Back...
and enjoyin' the passing scenery. A long train trip is a great time to just sit back in the observation car, put your feet up, and relax with your thoughts as the scenery passes by.
A long train ride sounds boring, and I'm sure you could make it so, but the time went quickly. It seemed we were always getting ready for a meal or eating one in the dining car.
Amtrak is starting to eliminate dining car service on the Eastern US routes because, apparently, younger riders don't like to share tables with strangers. So far, we have enjoyed being seated with a person or two that we didn't know and getting to find out about them as we shared a meal. The food has been very good as well.

The dining car looks great. It’s nice to walk about and have somewhere else to sit. Sad to think that someday, dining cars will be a thing of the past - and meals a yucky prepackaged excuse of food like airplane food.

We really enjoyed the dining car experience. On the return trip I may visit the cafe car too, to see what that’s like. Maybe grab a beer and a snack.

It looks nice. I would like to do that sometime :) I love the idea of being able to stand up and walk around and not have to concentrate on driving and traffic.
I love train rides... always have... :)
Dining cars included! I always have a book and end up not reading, but looking out the window!
