Autumn at the National Botanic Garden
It was a nice and sunny day in Hungary so we have visited the National Botanic Garden in Vácrátót. It is funny that it's only a few miles away from us and I have never been there before... It was so beautiful that we have decided to come back (must be much-much nicer in spring when all the wonderful bushes and trees are in full blossom).
This was originally a castle garden but the inheritors gave it to the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The garden is really huge, there is a stream crossing in the middle that is dammed to form several lakes. The Earl who was the original owner wanted to make a romantic, English-type garden, so he has built several bridges across the stream, a little wooden watermill, a rock-tunnel and started to collect exotic plants from all over the world.
Here is a map of the garden, they marked the tree and bushes with dark green, grass fields with light green, water with blue and flowerbeds with yellow.
I know that it not the best part of the year to visit this place but it was really amazing to walk around. Here are a few of the many pictures I took:
