Old piers on Lake Erie near Cleveland, Ohio 2012
A frozen Lake Erie with graffiti covered piers that have been left to be destroyed by mother nature's icy fury.
The ice for the first 30 feet or so near the shoreline was solid and full of air bubbles and sand, easy to walk on and frozen through. It was not flat but very wavy and uneven, and also white like snow instead of clear. Where the waves of ice stop, the lake gets deeper and was probably not frozen through...the ice was clearer and flat.
It seemed obvious that the wavy parts had froze during high winds while the waves were churning up against the beach.
I always wondered how the piers got so weathered...
this is a great pic.
Love this kind of pictures....nice and quiet and no people ;)
It was quiet but loud...the wind is always strong on the lake!
