Glasgow, Edinburgh, and London

I dropped off my rental car in Glasgow, as from there forward I planned to used public transportation to get around. The trains between the major cities were an awesome and inexpensive form of travel. One thing I should note, this was during Scotland's separation referendum. They were literally voting the first night we stayed in Glasgow. It was a very interesting time to be traveling around the country, as the mood was so different depending on where you were.

These shots make me want to go back and redo them in HDR. Now that I have had more time to play with it, I do believe they would have come out much better.

From Glasgow, we took the train to Edinburgh. This proved to be an interesting trip, as I had a non-English speaking older gentleman "borrow" my ex-wive's train ticket. Trying to convince him that he had the wrong ticket ended up being very ineffective. This caused much tension on the train for when the conductor came by collecting tickets. My ex was exasperated as he requested her ticket, and she handed him the receipt that we had instead. He replied "That isn't your ticket.... " and then slyly produced her actual ticket "because I already have yours right here". Well played, train man, well played.

After exploring Edinburgh thoroughly, and with my trip coming to an end, the last two nights were scheduled to be in London so that we could fly out from Heathrow. Our bed and breakfast owner at the Ardmor House gave us the tip that if we take the train during off hours, first class seats were dirt cheap and came with lunch and alcohol. They were great seats, and this time we didn't have anyone try to steal out tickets.

With my trip coming to an end, I was exhausted. It had been a lot of traveling and photography packed into a couple of weeks, but I loved every second of it. The day of my flight, I ended up getting in a gypsy cab that our bellhop had called for us... the guy seriously tried to rip me off. Once I got to the airport, he asked for eighty pounds... a cab for the same distance cost us 26 pounds earlier. I told him I only had 30 on me, and he said that would be enough.

I can't wait for my next big adventure. I have several places that I want to travel to for photography, with Patagonia being near the top of that list.
