Monumental complex "Unity and harmony" in the Maykop town, Adygea, Russia

Unusual to an average citizen kind of monument actually has the form rooted in depths of Circassian history: it is executed in the form of the national Adyghe hearth (fireplace), considered as material and spiritual basis of the house and family.

The monument was opened in 2013. On its surface are depicted relief compositions of Circassian ritual and mythological scenes, bas-reliefs of outstanding figures of history and culture of Adygs. According to the idea of its creator, artist Abdullah Bersirov, it should symbolize the unity and interethnic harmony of nations.

At its height, which is neither more nor less than 20 meters, the monument makes a truly grand impression, standing in the open, clearly towering above the trees in the district. The territory around the complex was going to be refined, but so far, apparently, it does not work out.

It is quite difficult for a tourist to understand symbolism in form (I would have thought about a rocket, really, don't you agree?) and symbolism on the semantic load from the author: the scenes familiar to our eyes are not shown, the letters are not written. But you can ask knowledgeable people (or google), because it's really interesting to know what it is ;).

In any case, the monument should be admired. Come closer and examine it, with respect to the sculptors throwing your head up.
