I found one in my house one night just as I was going to bed. Before I could do anything about it it slithered under the cover of some stuff and I lost it. But there was no way I could go to bed with that in the house (not least because my mattress was directly on the floor (and I get up in the night to go to the toilet). So I had to flush it out and then hack it to bits with an axe.
you are really brave man! in Hong Kong it is really rare, no one would dare to catch the snake by themselves! if a snake really appears in someone's house, they would call some professionals to catch it
I had to wrastle a deadly brown snake at the local shopping centre a couple of weeks ago. It got inside and a few of us had to contain it with brooms and a towel until the snake catcher got there. Snakes are a bit of a way of life down here. Thankfully not many people get bitten (and even less die).
