London insider's tip: How to visit London's Shard elegantly and cheaply
Instead of paying a lot and queuing to visit the viewing platform go just a few floors down without any queues and have a cocktail looking out. The options are the mandarin oriental hotel or Aqua shard. Both have more than one bar and several restaurants all with just amazing views. I've had lunch at the Mandarin oriental and they do a great value set lunch for around 35 pounds. Much more civilised than the tourist experience just a few floors up
One of the photos here shows the Walkie Talkie building across the Thames, taken from the bar at Aqua Shard.
Enjoy
