Oh those eyes...
What's the first thing you see in this photo?
During my walk past this beautiful (but unfortunately abandoned) place, I felt someone looking at me.
No one was there, except of this cat resting on the empty table, filling the whole space with his presence. (don't ask me how, I know it is a he)
He was staring at me, probably thinking - "Go away now stranger - you are not supposed to be here."
I still remember his proud and superior look. The look of a genuine cat.
There are many stray dogs & cats in Heraklion. Many of them are catered for by Heraklion shops and citizens, still, there is a lot to do.
I plan to make a catalogue with all the shelters in Heraklion (and in Crete). This can be handy for people that happen to see any emergency and do not know what to do.

I was very unhappy at the moment. I saw a post on a social media platform, where someone mentioned that they saw a small dog with a hurt leg, and left it on a pavement. The dog was found a few hours later dead, under the same pavement.. So, just making a post about a hurting animal is not enough.
What are your thoughts about it?

Of course it's not enough, but that's what most of us do, judge, cry out for help and complain why nobody takes actions while we sit back and wait for the problem to magically be solved by itself. I'm sorry about the poor dog. I hope this new year more people start being more conscious and caring towards strays (and especially pet owners start neutering and stop abandoning their animals)
