Rare natural phenomena

White rainbow

White or a misty rainbow is a natural phenomenon in the form of a wide arc of brilliant white, caused by the refraction and dispersion of light in very small drops of water. To see a rainbow is very difficult, as it hardly stands out from the fog. Most often this kind of rainbow formed over the sea.

The Spectre Of The Brocken

When the sun shines on the climber or on top of another object, a shadow is projected on the fog, creating a curiously enlarged triangular shape. This effect is accompanied by a kind of halo around the object in colored light circles that appear directly opposite the sun when sunlight is reflected by a cloud of identical water droplets. The name of this natural phenomenon was due to the fact that most often it is observed at quite affordable for climbers low German peaks of Brocken, due to frequent fog in the area

Blue moon

Is a phenomenon of nature, a blue moon occurs when increased smoke or humidity. This phenomenon is quite rare. Canadian residents watched the blue moon, the forest fires, and lasted the phenomenon of the week. Sometimes the moon can be painted in other colours, but most often it is blue or red.

The ice finger of death

Stunning and a little frightening phenomenon was captured on video and called "ice finger of death".

Cameramen Hugh Miller and Doug Anderson (Hugh Miller et Doug Anderson) were the discoverers of a previously unknown phenomenon during his stay in Antarctica. Over the surface of the ocean cameramen have found ice stalactites that pierce the depths of the ocean in a jet of extremely cold (almost frozen) and very salty water. Scientists call this phenomenon "brinkly", and operators who watched it dubbed this phenomenon the "ice finger of death".

The water of the jet has much higher density than the rest of its surrounding ocean water, and also the temperature of the jet is much lower, it is colder than ice, simply put. How is it possible scientists can't explain. Previously, such a phenomenon nobody faced and did not even know about the possibility of the existence of such!

Fire tornado
Or, if you will, the fire demon.

A firestorm occurs when caused scattered fires merged into one huge fire. The air above it is heated, its density decreases and it rises. Bottom in his place comes the cold air mass from the periphery. Arrived air is also heated. The inflow of oxygen acts as the bellows.

Iridescent clouds

When the sun is exactly at a right angle behind the clouds — droplets of water refract the light, creating intense stretching train. Colouring, as in the rainbow caused by different wavelengths of light — different wavelengths are refracted to different degrees by changing the angle of refraction and thus the color of light in our perception.

Crepuscular rays

When you have a dark area or permeable obstacles such as tree branches or clouds filter the sun — rays turn the whole column of light emanating from a single source in the sky. The phenomenon is often used in horror films, usually observed at sunrise or sunset and can even be witnessed under the ocean if the sun's rays pass through a strip of broken ice.

Stray lights

"Wandering lights" is a phenomenon in which light appears in the night, mainly on marshy ground or in cemeteries. There are several hypotheses of the origin of the mysterious lights. This auto-ignition of gaseous hydrogen phosphide formed during the decay of dead plant and animal organisms, or bioluminescence, such as mushrooms or fireflies. Newer versions explaining the origin of the marsh fires — radioactive precipitation, light highways and cell towers.
In many cultures, these lights were considered harbingers of disaster or evil spirits who lure travelers into the swamp. Mysterious balls of light known, for example, lake Paasselka in Finland: according to local folklore, these lights indicate the place where treasures are hidden.
