My new photography series: Roaming in North Hungary and the Highlands. Part four
Yesterday I wrote about the Dragon's back, now I would like to show you another mysterious place, close to that.
Our next destination was "Morgó-gödör" (Growling pit) at Nemti, which is a 20 million years old miniature canyon carved in sandstone by water, frost and wind. On the first hundred meters, the average valley, which is hard to reach because of the fallen trees, is gradually narrowing down, and finally its depth is much bigger than its width. On the next hundred meters, the persistent work of water in a 20-23 million-year-old, easilyerodible rock created a miniature natural wonder.
There is a face carved in the stone. Nobody knows, who created it. I suppose this face will be lighted by sun at the summer solstice.
Wow, great shots!
And I thought Hungary was flat ;)
Not flat, banana-shaped! :D
