I found a treasure in my weekend trip!
Sometimes one travels and of course, enjoys the travel, has a good time and everything is normal, nothing out of the ordinary.
But other times one travels and by surprise without planning anything, something spectacular appears, something that marks the trip in a special way.
That happened to me this past weekend when I was with my son at the wedding of a friend in northern Germany, very close to the border with Holland. The location of the wedding had a Dutch style, with mill included and everything but this is theme for a future post. The story of today has to do more with the final part of the travel.
When we were to start the trip back to Berlin, the DJ of the party offered to take my son and me in his car to a small town called Herford. The idea was to not have to make changes and just take the train directly to Berlin. It was a trip of about an hour, very entertaining. The man was a Greek over 50 years old with many interesting stories to tell. And when we were entering the city of Herford he looked at me and told me.
I'll show you what we call here the jewel of the city. - The greek Dj.
And suddenly this man took us to the front of a building. As soon as I saw the unmistakable curved lines and titanium plates I knew ...
... it was the work of the architect Frank Gehry!!!
The building in question is a museum of contemporary art called MARTa Herford. Its construction lasted 4 years and opened to the public in 2005.
In front of the museum a statue of Tupac Shakur and at the base of the statue a graffiti with the image of Frank Gehry.
This greek Dj can not imagine how grateful I'll be with him my whole life. He was one of those people who gives us life in certain moments so that they lead us to incredible treasures. And we may never see each other again, but the imprint of its passage is indelible.
Amazing! :D
