[ENG-SPN] Monsacro
Since time immemorial, the various cultures of the area have made its nebulous peaks an eminently sacred place. An indisputable Axis Mundi, which united the earth with that abode of Divinity, which has always been the heavens. There was a time, both historical and protohistorical, in which the funerary mounds and dolmens covered these mysterious heights, which were also reached by part of the Visigothic diaspora fleeing the Agarena invasion, in centuries as early as the VIII, to hide its most precious relics, such as the ark, with countless precious objects that the bishop of Astorga, Santo Toribio, brought from Jerusalem. Later, although there are no documents that corroborate it, although there are traditions, it is rumored that the Knights Templar built two Romanesque hermitages - that of the Magdalene and that of Our Lady, the latter, with a suspiciously octagonal plan - covering the dolmen in whose well the sacred objects were kept for centuries, before being definitively transferred to the Holy Chamber of the Cathedral of San Salvador in Oviedo, at the beginning of the 12th century, a ceremony in which it is also said that the Cid Campeador was present.
Although there are various routes, the ascent to its summit is certainly complicated, although it is always an extraordinary experience, where, at the same time, it is impossible not to be carried away by its insurmountable beauty and the fantastic related scenes that appear, like no other. fewer fantastic mirages, in sight, knowing, furthermore, that the effort pays off, with the gratifying sensation of knowing oneself in a place, not of Power, as many assert, but, on the contrary, of the Spirit: the Asturian Monsacro.
