[ENG-SPN] In memory of Las Meninas / En recuerdo de las Meninas
Even with their voices in favor and their voices against, the truth is that, for some years, including the pandemic, the famous Meninas de Velázquez, apart from being one of the most recognized symbols of an open and open city, such as Madrid, they also provided their most emblematic streets with color, and there were also not a few enthusiasts, who, camera in one hand and street map in the other, embarked on the enterprise of obtaining their particular seasonal collection.
The New Technologies also echoed its apparent popularity, to the point that you can still attend an excellent exhibition, interactive and permanent, located at the beginning of the popular Atocha street, not far - tourism is obligatory - from other major monumental landmarks, such as, of course, the church of the Holy Cross and above all, that sovereign of baroque and Renaissance architecture, which is, without a doubt, the Plaza Mayor.
Incluso con sus voces a favor y sus voces en contra, lo cierto es, que, durante algunos años, incluido el de la pandemia, las famosas Meninas de Velázquez, aparte de ser uno de los símbolos más reconocidos de una ciudad abierta y aperturista, como es Madrid, dotaron también a sus calles más emblemáticas de color, no siendo pocos, además, los entusiastas, que, cámara en una mano y callejero en la otra, se embarcaban en la empresa de conseguir su particular colección de temporada.
También las Nuevas Tecnologías se hicieron eco de su aparente popularidad, hasta el punto de que todavía se puede asistir a una excelente exposición, interactiva y permanente, situada al comienzo de la popular calle de Atocha, no muy lejos -turismo obliga- de otros grandes hitos monumentales, como son, desde luego, la iglesia de la Santa Cruz y sobre todo, esa soberana de la arquitectura barroca y renacentista, que es, sin duda alguna, la Plaza Mayor.
