[ENG-SPN] Fantastic Realism: Cudillero and Frodo's Last Journey / Realismo Fantástico: Cudillero y el último viaje de Frodo

One of those "cursed" writers, whom History, ungrateful as ever, has given little or no recognition to and current generations completely ignore, missing out on many excellent "magical works," tells a curious anecdote that took place in this unforgettable Cantabrian seaside village. Interestingly, it recalls the sensational ending of Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, reflecting the final journey of the hobbit relatives, Bilbo and Frodo Baggins.

The place is none other than the picturesque Asturian town of Cudillero, the author is Mario Roso de Luna, and the work, which truly has nothing to envy of other great epics narrated in an occult key—such as Bullwer-Lytton and his works, 'The Race to Come' and 'Zanoni'—is a delightful, initiatory, and fictionalized journey that bears the unforgettable title: 'The Treasure of the Somiedo Lakes,' although it is also known as 'Through Dark Asturias.'

Among the many stories Roso tells in his book, he recounts one that took place during his adventures in this place at the end of the 19th century. It features one of the great masters of the Principality of Asturias at the time, a pharmacist and alchemist known among Asturian adepts as "the Master of the Herbaceous Mountains." His final voyage, similar to Tolkien's vision, was made from this charming port, except that he embarked not on an elven ship, as Bilbo and Frodo did, but on a Templar ship with beautiful black and white sails.

Cuenta uno de esos escritores ‘malditos’, a los que la Historia, desagradecida como siempre, poco o nada ha reconocido y las generaciones actuales ignoran por completo, perdiéndose no pocas y excelentes ‘obras mágicas’, una curiosa anécdota acaecida en este inolvidable pueblo marinero del Cantábrico, que, curiosamente, recuerda el sensacional final de la trilogía de ‘El Señor de los Anillos’, de Tolkien, reflejando el último viaje de los parientes hobbits, Bilbo y Frodo Bolsón.

El lugar no es otro que la pintoresca localidad asturiana de Cudillero, el autor, Mario Roso de Luna y la obra, que realmente nada tiene que envidiar a otras grandes epopeyas narradas en clave ocultista -como Bullwer-Lytton y sus obras, ‘La raza que vendrá’ y ‘Zanoni’- es un delicioso viaje, iniciático y novelado, que lleva un título inolvidable: ‘El tesoro de los lagos de Somiedo’, si bien, también se la conoce como ‘A través de la Asturias tenebrosa’.

Entre las múltiples historias que Roso desarrolla en su libro, refiere una, acaecida durante sus peripecias en este lugar, ocurridas a finales del siglo XIX, protagonizada por uno de los grandes maestros del Principado de Asturias en la época, farmacéutico y alquimista, conocido entre los adeptos asturianos como ‘el Maestro de los Montes Herbáceos’ y su viaje final, similar a la visión de Tolkien, que realizó desde este encantador puerto, con la diferencia de embarcar, no en una nave de elfos, como hicieron Bilbo y Frodo, sino en una nave templaria, de hermosas velas blancas y negras.
