Ice Stalagmites / Eisstalagmiten

I know these stalagmites are small, so small that I almost missed them when I left the path and climbed over them.

Ich weiß, diese Stalagmiten klein, so klein, dass ich sie fast übersehen hätte, als ich den Weg verlassen habe und über sie hinweg gestiegen bin.

At first I thought that someone had lost a glass ball, but on closer inspection I saw these ice stalagmites. They stood at the front edge of a small, only a few inches wide cavern in the hill I had climbed.

I couldn't see a counterpart above both stalagmites, so no ice stalactites have been there, which was kind of strange.

Zuerst dachte ich, dass jemand eine Glaskugel verloren hätte, aber bei näherer Betrachtung sah ich dann diese Eisstalagmiten. Sie standen am vorderen Rand einer nur wenige Zentimeter großen Einbuchtung in den Hügel, den ich hochgestiegen war.

Bei beiden Stalagmiten konnte ich kein Gegenstück, also keinen Eisstalaktiten sehen, was irgendwie komisch war.

A stalagmite is the dripstone growing from the bottom of a cave, its counterpart is the stalactite hanging from the ceiling.

Falls jemand noch nie einen Stalagmiten oder Stalaktiten gesehen hat oder nicht weiß, was das ist:
Ein Stalagmit ist der vom Boden einer Höhle emporwachsende Tropfstein, sein Gegenstück ist der von der Decke hängende Stalaktit.
