Waterways and the lives that encompass it

in #photography6 years ago

This afternoon, at a creek, I was able to capture macro shots of some fish and insects alive and thriving in or near it. All shots were taken using a Canon 80D camera.

The first two shots are of a gar fish that was swimming in the current, just waiting for smaller fish to pass it's line of sight.

Florida Gars (and gars in general) are a very predatorial fish, eating many fish that you'll find in rivers, creeks and ponds. Thus, they can overrun a body of water, eliminating most of the fish it comes in contact with. It is a nightmare for fiah conservationists and anglers alike.

The next shot of a few little fish that were swimming around in a straight line. The photo following it is a ripple that occurred in the water after one of the little fish swam to the surface to eat a bug that was resting atop the water.

In addition to seeing the fish, also near this creek was some dragonflies and a wasp, insects you will commonly see near a body of water. The first set of shots is of two different types of dragonflies.

The next shot is of a wasp that flew in to rest on a wild plant. It's dark coloring contrasts very well with the greenery and plants that surrounded it.

When you find yourself near a lake, pond, or in my case today, a creek, you find yourself getting ample opportunities to see some interesting wildlife. Today was definitely a beautiful day for macro photography.

Thank you for the kind words. I definitely try as hard as possible to grow in my craft and have seen improvement in the shots I've captured, but it does not take away from the fact that it is still nice to receive compliments on your work. Continued success for you as well!

So great!!!

It is not easy to capture like this,it neends hardwork

Wow, how you captured the barely-there ripples...the subtlety of dimension...it is almost like you came upon a hidden portal into a watery world. The photos of the fish and water have this almost dream-like quality which I think comes from the faded tones you captured. Love!

Some nice shots but I love shot of the wasp the best! Thanks for sharing!
