A glimpse of Savannah, Georgia

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Here are some pics that I took while visiting Savannah, Georgia a few weeks ago. Even though it was hotter than the center of a volcano, the beautiful weather and lack of clouds made for some pristine photos. All shots were taken using a Canon 80D camera with a 70 - 300mm lens.

The Girl Scouts was actually founded by Juliette Low in Savannah, Georgia, in 1912. The CEO is now Sylvia Acevedo, a post she has held since June of 2016.

This is a picture of an armadillo that was crawling around in a heavy bushy area, located in one of the cemeteries in Savannah. Though it cannot be seen in the photo (you can see the edge of another one's body), there were actually six of them that were crawling around foraging for food. Interesting fact about armadillos: they are almost completely blind and deaf, but they have an unbelievably keen sense of smell.

This is a photo of a Jewish shrine that was constructed in the Jewish burial section in the cemetery. Though the door was locked, I was still able to get a shot of the inside through the glass.

Savannah is a beautiful city to visit, rich with historical buildings, businesses and other artifacts of a distant (some would say not so distant) past. It is perfect for a weekend getaway or for someone who likes to delve into American South history. I highly suggest booking a B&B (bed and breakfast) near River Street, for it places you in close vicinity to the majority of what downtown Savannah has to offer.

One love,

Awesome shots! It looks like you saw a lot of great things while you were there. It has been hot here in the North too. I am hoping we can get some relief soon.

Did you try the pralines while you were there?

I absolutely did. They are delicious! We had lots of food and drink, but pralines were definitely one of the highlights.

That they are, I don't think a trip to Savannah can be called complete without tasting them.
