Trip to Mayaro, TrinidadsteemCreated with Sketch.

Mayaro is the name of a group of villages in southeastern Trinidad and Tobago. It is a simple yet beautiful county, rich with its own history. It is a popular holiday destination with endless pictures of seas and palm trees. I wanted to explore more, so I went with some friends and here are some of the pictures.

(The famous Manzanilla Stretch, full of palm trees ushering you in, on the way to Mayaro)

02.jpg
(On the mayaro coast, it was very empty and quiet that day)

(Fishing boat, in fishing village)

("Born to Fish" the village echoes that sentiment.)

This beach had some old building structures, I assume to be part of the old fish market or old beach facilities. It was very creepy and fascinating though, the way sea blast had taken its toll on the already demolished building)

06.jpg
(By some of the tiles, it seemed like old beach facilities, wasn't actually too sure but I loved the juxtaposition between fresh sea and old buildings)

(The Cobeaux, in its natural habitat, feeding on what carcasses wash up. They were tricky to capture, any close movement they wanted to fly away)

08.jpg
(Found a random construction hat just resting on a wooden pillar by the beach. I loved the 'jus chillin' vibe)

Following are some shots of the central part of the village and some old houses. The renowned novel "Green Days by the River" was written and set in Mayaro. We visited many of the landmarks in the book and even stopped by the authors old home.

To end the day, I found a beautiful flower growing among the bushes.
