7 World’s Continents Photo Challenge - Australian Monday week #35 - Natural Bridge
Here's my entry into the 7 World's Continents Photo Challenge conducted by @czechglobalhosts.
This is Natural Bridge but is sometimes called Natural Arch. It is a stunning waterfall found in Springbrook National Park in Queensland, Australia. Over time this deep cave formed behind the waterfall on Cave Creek. The location where the water now plunges down from use to be a pool of water above. From the force of water and tumbling rocks they scoured the creek floor until the water finally broke through the basalt rock into this cave below. The diversion of water created a perfect arch or "bridge" in the rock. The cave is now home to glow worms which can be seen at night (less through winter) and a colony of tiny bent-wing bats. It's a reasonably short walk from the car park through gorgeous lush rainforest to reach this location, a trip well worth making!
I was blessed the day we visited, we had been there for a little while and I had already taken a heap of photos but then the sun found an area through the trees to shine through making my photos all the better. The reflection from the sun on the water was reflecting up onto the roof of the cave highlighting it's fabulous textures and colours.
