Nomurake Garden, Kanazawa, 🇯🇵

As the title implies, this picture was taken inside Nomurake. the Nomura Clan Samurai Home, in the Nagamachi district of Kanazawa (金沢). Nagamachi was a district where samurai and their families used to live until the Meiji period.
The area is rather well preserved. It's a very pleasant stroll through narrow roads, bordered by little streams and small walls protecting some old or/and rebuilt houses. There are also small shops where you can buy delicious hand-made pastries.

The Nomura Clan home has been rebuilt and is a must-visit in my opinion. You get to see how they lived (hint: regarding the furniture, it was very sober), where they prayed, and also how they dressed, as some incredible armors are on display there.
The dessert is the garden, which is small but absolutely stunning. If you base your opinion only on the picture you might think this is disorganized. Far from it, when you see it live, it all makes sense. You can get lost in your memories sitting there and enjoying it.
At 550¥, it's really worth it.

Kanazawa is not a tourist magnet like Kyoto or Tokyo, which is exactly why you should go there for 2 or 3 days. Apart from the Samurai district, there is also a Geisha district, and of course the amazing Kenrokuen Garden, which I've mentioned in one of my earliest posts.
