Stunning photos of Poppies in full bloom - Spring in the Czech Republic - Part 5
Field poppy in my garden is beautiful attraction.
Bright and bold, the spectacular beauty of poppies is something to behold. But this bloom does more than light up any landscape: It also serves as an important symbol veterans, honoring those we've lost.
Did you know?
If you ever visit a Memorial Day parade (this year,28.5.2018 in USA), you'll probably get red poppy made from crepe paper. This tradition dates back to 1915, when entire European villages were destroyed in battle. After a long and gloomy winter, red poppies began to appear across the battlefields.
Now that our brief history lesson is done, it's time to stop and smell the flowers. Isn't nature even prettier when it represents such a beautiful story?
In Flanders Field - Poem by John McCrae
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Amazing flower. Beautiful and bright.
